"I cannot believe I let you talk me into this." I rolled my eyes at Maria, attempting to get the point across.

She shrugged innocently. "It's a party, Liz. People play games at parties."

"Charades," I hissed. "Pin the Tail on the Donkey! Pictionary! Not Spin the Bottle, for godsakes!"

Isabel appeared over my shoulder. "Quit your bitching, Liz. Sit down and play." Then she giggled, which kind of ruined the whole threatening image she had going on. I watched as she sauntered over to Alex and sat next to him, so close she was practically in his lap. What was I thinking?

"Maria..." I said pleadingly one more time.

"Liz," she said matter-of-factly. Deep breath. Uh oh, I sense a diatribe. "We have been single for a month and a half. And that's an all-inclusive 'we.' All eight of us, alien and human alike. I've gotten over Michael, you're so over Max, and Alex is still lusting after Isabel. Wait, that's nothing new. But yeah. I mean, even Jock-Boy Kyle can't even get any, and he's on the football team. And check out Tess over there." I checked out Tess. "You see her? She's cute and blond and can't get a man to save her life. This situation must be remedied. So here we are. All eight of us, plus several of our other friends from school. Twenty people, Liz, all young, horny, and largely intoxicated. Why are you not taking advantage of this situation?"

"I-um...fine." With a sigh, I settled between Kyle and Ivy, a girl I met at the Ani DiFranco concert in Las Cruces a few months ago. We chatted amiably for a few minutes before Maria stood up in the middle of us and began to speak.

"I'm sure that most of you are familiar with this game. You spin the bottle, and whoever it lands on you have to kiss. The amount of tongue used is up to you. Now, if it lands on the same person twice, the second time you get seven minutes in heaven. And don't worry about waiting, because we have a coat closet, kitchen pantry, and if worse comes to worse, a laundry room. Oh, and if it lands on a member of the same sex, you still have to kiss. There are extra margaritas at the bar if neccessary, and any mixed drink you want can be prepared by our volunteer bartender for the night." She gestured to the small bar set up in the kitchen. "Whiteotter! Raise your hand!" The girl standing behind the bar finished pouring a drink and waved, and I noticed she had on an apron with the slogan "Kiss me I'm Otterish!" I pondered that for a moment, then screwed up my nerve and called to her.

"Um, could you make me a chocolate martini? I've just heard they're really good..."

"My specialty," she said with a grin. "I'll even add a shot of Polar Love."

I didn't have time to wonder at that though, because pretty soon Maria was leaning into the center of the circle and taking the inaugural spin. It landed on Pacey, a transfer student. They shared a chaste kiss before Maria gestured to Isabel. "Your turn, sweetie," she said with a wink. Isabel grinned at her, took another sip of her coconut margarita, and gave the bottle a twirl.

When it stopped, it was pointing to a quiet girl I knew from school, Jessamyn. She looked like she had just won the lottery. The two girls stepped into the circle and looked at each other for a moment, before Jess grabbed Isabel by the collar and kissed her with a passion I'd rarely seen outside of the movies. By the time they broke away, gasping for breath, even I was a little turned on. But Isabel just smiled and told her she was quite the wild one, then settled back down next to an envious Alex.

The game continued on for another ten minutes before it got around to my turn. I hadn't gotten any action so far and was getting a bit restless. Ivy sat twitching next to me, muttering something about how it was the squirrel's fault. I admit that disturbed me a little. Fortunately, the bottle was passed my way, along with a chocolate martini and a wink from Whiteotter. I took a deep breath and gave it a spin. After spinning for what seemed like endless hours, it stopped, pointing directly to Michael Guerin. Okay, I admit the thought had crossed my mind, but I didn't expect it to actually happen.

He stood, and I stood, and we regarded each other. Finally I smiled, shrugged, and went for it. Things got a little out of hand (those chocolate martinis are potent), and I didn't realize the ferocity of our kissing until I heard the people around me cheering, especially Ivy, who was staring at the two of us with an absurdly goofy grin. She was surrounded by Whiteotter, Jessamyn, and a few other girls I recognized, Em, Courtnay, Novi, Tonia, Christina, Becca, Kate, and Leta. They were giggling as Em mentioned something about the Law of Polarism and how it always triumphed in the end. I'm not sure though, I was a bit distracted by my still tingling lips, and the burningly jealous glares I saw Tess shooting at Michael. I smiled and sat back down.

Kristin, the girl on the other side, nudged me. "Tess's turn next," she said with a wink. I raised an eyebrow at her. She looked a little loopy.

"Yeah...okay. What's that you're drinking?"

She looked at the glass in her hand and wrinkled her nose. "It's, um, I think it was called a Radioactive Guava. Whiteotter made it. It's pretty good. Oh hey, she's spinning!"

I looked up to see Tess give the bottle a spin. Her eyes were focused on me, and I saw the bottle slow down until it was pointing in my direction. She stood up and held out a hand to me. "Liz," she practically purred. I grabbed her hand, and she pulled me up and into a devastating kiss. And in this case, devastating would not be an exaggeration. She tasted like the strawberry and tabasco margarita I'd seen her drinking, and it was wild. I dimly heard someone turn up the background music, and heard "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails start playing. Amidst cheers from the guys and girls alike, we finally broke apart. I stumbled down to my seat, as Ivy and Kristin patted me on the back and the rest of the girls congratulated me.

The game progressed more quickly after that. Everyone was at least a bit tipsy, myself included, and we all kissed our fair share of friends. Even Alex saw a lot of action, getting seven minutes with Isabel, and a kiss from Maria, and then seven more minutes with Isabel and Maria. One of the highlights, really, was when he got to kiss another girl named Maria, a French foreign exchange student. She attacked the poor boy with impressive ferocity, then just about fainted when he had to kiss Max. I've never seen a girl so happy. Immediately after, she wondered to the bar for another drink, and I saw her talking to Minnie.

Minnie was another girl I recognized, and she had been standing by the bar all night eating M&Ms and saying that as much fun as this was, she still liked candy. Maria was giggling and saying "magnifique" and ''j'aime la Plasmaticisme!" It was vastly entertaining, but my attention was drawn back to the game as my turn came around. I gave the bottle a solid spin, and watched as it landed squarely between Michael and Tess.

"What do I do now?" I asked anyone still listening.

"You have to choose which one you want to kiss," Leta replied helpfully, until Courtnay elbowed her in the side.

"No you don't. You've already kissed both. Just take them both into the broom closet," Courtnay suggested.

"Both?!" I said, shocked, as Tess and Michael approached me with predatory glances. They both grabbed an arm and dragged me off to the broom closet.

"You guys need anymore drinks?" Whiteotter called, and we shifted directions, heading to the bar. We all put in our requests, and Michael gave her a kiss on the cheek. "Rocka rocka..." she murmured dizzily as she mixed the drinks. "Hey, Ash," she turned to a diminutive girl attired in green dress emblazoned with leaves. "Could you keep our friends entertained for a moment?"

"Gladly," Ash grinned, then steered us over to a couch. "So. How do you guys feel about leather?"

"I'm sorry, what?" I asked.

"I like it," Tess put in.

"Me too," added Michael.

"Hey, wait a second," I exclaimed.

"Hold on, let me get my camera," Ash said, then handed me a whip. "Here, hold this." She turned to Michael and Tess, handing them a pile of leather things and a collar with a leash. "And play nice, at least until I get back."

They climbed in the clothing as I watched. "What the hell is going on?"

"Get dressed," Tess said, tossing me the very latest in bondage wear. I was disturbed, I'll admit that. I was also appreciating Tess in that collar, but I would never admit that. Oh wait...

I pulled on the clothes, and Ash returned with her camera. We had to pose for several pictures, until finally Whiteotter brought us our drinks and we scurried off to the broom closet.

At that point I realized I had just gone into a broom closet with Michael and Tess to play Seven Minutes in Heaven. I felt as though I should have been a little squicked, or at least alarmed, but instead my head was filled with images of me dragging around Tess on a leash. "So," I said. "How much can we do in seven minutes?"

"Is that a challenge?" Tess asked.

"I think that's a challenge," Michael said.

Before I had time to process that, I was in the middle of an alien sandwich, and loving the world.

Now that's what I call a party.
