Soulbonds

She could hear them. The voices. Whispering horrible things in her ear.

They're sneering at you. Can't you see? They hate you. They want to kill you.

She closes her eyes and pleads them to go away. She can almost hear them breathing behind her, cold fingers running through her hair. Tugging her. Forcing her to listen.

They don't want you.

Yes they do, she tells them. But how could they believe when she doesn't believe either?

You should just go away.

I don't want to, she replies. This time she's genuine.

They do.

Liars.

How can we be? It's not that we're real or anything.

Now it's the voices who laugh at her. The voices who hate. The voices who want to kill.

Don't lie to yourself. It's them all along.

No they aren't, she tries to say.

Liar.

One of them screams, so suddenly that she gets scared and cries out. They stare. All the voices scream.

Stop it! she cries. Voices scream still. "STOP IT!"

Now they're scared. She screams and the voices scream, she cries and the voices laugh, she wants to die and the voices don't. She stands up and runs for a window.

Some of them call out her name, but she doesn't hear. All she can hear is the voices. Voices who no longer scream but laugh, laugh, laugh..

"STOP IT!"

Splinters dance in the air and the groud welcomes her into it's hard embrace, but the voices remain.
